
As in the many cuisines having the effect of Ottoman Empire Culture, Meze (appetizer) that is served with or before many drinks and main dish is appreciated in Turkey. Those appetizers are divided in two groups as hot and cold appetizers.
The most famous meal of Turkish Cuisine is Kebap (grilled meats are generally called as Kebap) Schisch Kebap is traditional grilled schisch meat made of marinated lamb meat, tomatoe and red pepper. Another famous turkish kebap is Doner Kebap. Turkish Delight; made of sugar or honey and starch. Wonderful cubic small portions enriched with pistachio nut, pea nut, grinded coconut, dried fruit, chocolate or fruit parts or rose water.
Raki (Turkish strong spirit flavoured with anise) is non official national Turkish drink. Water as cold as ice is added intoraki; when anise is mixed with water it becomes milk white. Turkis raki is called as also ‘’milk of Lion’’. Turkish style Coffee is also worldwide known. To prepare Turkish Coffee, you will need very thin grinded coffee, sugar upon desire and water also a copper cup, lightly conical, that is specially designed for this purpose and called as coffeepot or pitcher; it will be boiled in this coffeepot.
